Texas has been an eye opener, they are a very proud people relative to their state and their psotion in the country. The under tones from the working class man is that they are Texans first Americans second, to date i havent met anyone who doesnt like Trump and what he has done for the country to date.
Most of the major free ways and tollways are under repair , expansion or extension when you enter most of the major cities, Like San Antonio, Houston, Waco, Dallas and Fort Worth. Corpus Christi shore line is tatty and shambolic. With little or none public infrastructure. The roads and walkwasy in this area are pretty porrly maintained.
The drivers only know one speed and thats flat out and on the whole most do not idicate and will cut from far left across threee or four lanes at speed across your path to get to an on ramp, they will be sitting behind you and then also decide that they will come around you on your blind side. and forget any notion that they will let you in or give way to you. Your on your own there boy.
Trying to get a good fresh meal thats not from a chain or fast food is pretty hard. I did do Longmans outside of Dallas which is a chain but the baby back half rib rack was delicious and fresh.
I stayed once again at the Best Wesern Chain in Dallas North which is suppose to be a full serivce hotel its not, the breakfast only saving grace was they supplied cutlery and plates not diposable items to dine with. That is where it stopped not full breakfast like on the website or bar and restuarant they are leased out to a african cafe which is pretty low rent.
I visited in Dallas the, G W Bush Presidential Library and Museum, Daealey Palza and Sixth floor Mueseum, which where both great, parking at both venues cost about $8 each and entry was $16.00. Be mindful of the hawkers trying to sell you tours, books, papers and pictures around Dealey Plaza, they are in plague proportions. I went onto Gas Monkey Garage and the Bar n Grill, dont waste your time. Nothing special and nothing to see. Bought some souvenirs for friends and family.
In Lockhart did Blacks BBQ tremendously enjoyable with a few Lone Star Ales, did the Lone Satr Gun Range which was terrific fun and something you cant do in Australia.
Waco visited the Texas Rangers Museum and Hall of fame a credit to the people who manage and put the exhibits together. Dropped in on the Colombia Mammoth Monument took the tour and it was a cool place to see, 60,000 fossilized in the ground Mommoths.
